The British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg MP visited Dublin in January. Mr Clegg held meetings with President Michael D Higgins, Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore and Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton.
A small number of successful British-Irish collaborations were selected to showcase the positive way the two countries can work together. The GSK – ICORG collaboration was one of those selected. Mr Clegg showed a great deal of interest in the pace of oncology development, the many exciting new break-through oncology compounds GSK have developed, and ICORG’s important role in the pivotal research which saw these compounds licensed.
